No. The workload begins at a manageable level and progresses according to the testing protocol. Your result reflects your current capacity, whatever the starting point.
A true maximal assessment becomes challenging near the end. The protocol progresses gradually, and your team will explain the stopping criteria and coach you throughout the test.
No. Screening matters, particularly for people with cardiovascular, pulmonary or other medical concerns. Tell the team about health conditions, symptoms and medications before testing.
Interpretation depends on age, sex, testing protocol and individual context. Your current number matters, but the direction of change over time can be more useful than chasing a universal score.
The appropriate interval depends on your objective and training plan. Many structured programs use a later retest after enough time has passed for a meaningful adaptation to be detectable.
